Bertrand Courtot

Osteopathy is a physical medicine which seeks to find the root cause of the patient’s problem without the use of medication or invasive procedures.

Osteopathy adopts a gentle, holistic approach to patient health.
It aims to restore and maintain the finely tuned system of the body with particular emphasis on the skeletal, muscular, nervous and visceral systems.

Bertrand graduated in 1999 from the European School of Osteopathy (ESO) in Maidstone, Kent. The ESO remains one of the foremost osteopathic teaching institutions in the world. I have worked as an Osteopath in private practice in both New Zealand and France before moving to the UK to work in Bristol in early 2011.

Working in a teaching capacity, he has taught and supervised both undergraduate and postgraduate osteopathy students in New Zealand and continues his teaching work through involvement in post graduate lecturing in Belgium and in France.
He is particularly engaged in the teaching of visceral techniques and am currently co-authoring a book about visceral osteopathy after abdominal surgery.

A good Osteopath should be able to approach all kind of problems by relying on similar clinical principles and avoid claiming to be “specialised “ in any particular field.

However, Bertrand has particular knowledge and experience in the treatment of:

Children and newborns
Pregnant women
Patients suffering from whiplash after a road traffic accident or fall
Professional musicians
Sportspersons (while working in New-Zealand, he provided treatment to members of the New Zealand rugby team).
Treatment of internal organs by osteopathic techniques, which can be of great help for people suffering from post surgical disorders (pain, adhesion, constipation, infertility)
